If you haven’t seen the temporary ‘highest tennis court in the world’ that was installed in 2005 for a brief period of time, then we’re here to break it down for you and let you in on this out-of-this-world temporary court that broke records and gave us chills down our spine while watching videos and reading articles about this. This court is not made for the faint-hearted. The courage and bravery it must have taken to hit a tennis ball on this court is unimaginable, to say the least.
One of the world's highest hotels in the world, the majestic Burj Al Arab did the unimaginable and turned its helipad on the top of the over 1,000-foot building, into a temporary tennis court to host a friendly tennis match between 2 world tennis champions. You may be wondering, why on earth would get to go through all the hassle to install a grass tennis court on the helipad? Well, it was a marketing stunt by a media company to bring attention to the Dubai Duty-Free Men’s Open tournament in 2005. The aim was to popularize the event and also to market Dubai as a go-to tourist destination. With Andre Agassi and Roger Federer hitting a few balls on the courts, we’re pretty sure this unique tennis court caught the attention of people across the globe.
